Board Member Spotlight: Rick Greene
Regional Manager, Moxey | Board Member & Membership Chair, West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce

At the intersection of relationship-building, business growth, and community service, you’ll find Rick Greene. As the Regional Manager for Moxey, a growing barter network, and a passionate board member of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, Rick is a dedicated champion for small business and local impact.

Leading with Purpose: A Professional Calling

In his day-to-day role at Moxey, Rick helps more than 600 local business owners grow their businesses in creative ways—specifically by using barter instead of cash to acquire goods and services. Moxey’s mission is to support the small business owner who may not have the backing of a major corporation but still dreams big. “We take ‘shop local’ to a whole new level,” Rick says. “Our members can stretch their budgets, build customer networks, and accomplish more while saving cash.”

His career path into this space was a case of the right opportunity meeting the right person. A friend in South Louisiana who was already a member of the Moxey network encouraged Rick to apply for the position—and the rest is history. Since then, Rick has become a connector, problem solver, and trusted ally to hundreds of business owners navigating the challenges of growth.

Chamber Involvement: Investing in Something Bigger

Rick’s involvement with the Chamber began when he recognized just how deeply the organization is woven into the fabric of the local business ecosystem. “When I saw the impact the Chamber has—through its members, its staff, its events—I knew I had to be part of it,” Rick shares.

Since joining the Board of Directors, Rick has served in several capacities, including Membership Chair, where he helps build relationships with current and prospective members, communicates the Chamber’s mission, and creates space for authentic engagement. While he may joke about needing help remembering when he officially joined, his long-standing presence is felt through his passion and consistency.

Among his favorite Chamber memories is volunteering for the annual First Responders Appreciation Day, a hands-on way the Chamber honors local law enforcement, firefighters, EMS workers, and emergency personnel. “There are so many highlights, but that event is the one that always sticks with me,” Rick says. “It’s about giving back to those who give everything.”

Driving Value and Growing Opportunity

Rick believes the Chamber’s most valuable asset is its ability to act as a trusted partner for local businesses—providing resources, connections, and opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. “Sometimes all a business owner needs is a friend to call, someone to help guide them through a decision or connect them to the right person. That’s what the Chamber does best.”

Looking ahead, his goals as a board member include helping the Chamber grow with intentionality—focusing on quality membership and increasing awareness about the tangible benefits of joining. “We have so many tools and so much reach. When members really engage with the Chamber, incredible things can happen.”

A Heart for Community

Beyond the boardroom, Rick is a strong supporter of initiatives that strengthen the community from the ground up. One of his favorite programs is Adopt-a-School, where local businesses partner with schools to provide encouragement, supplies, and sometimes just a small gift to let teachers and students know they’re appreciated.

He’s also an avid supporter of Ouachita Green, an organization focused on litter abatement and beautification. “I’m really passionate about a clean and inviting community,” Rick says. “Removing litter and supporting beautification efforts says something about who we are and what we value.”

The Man Behind the Mission

There’s a lot more to Rick than business and volunteerism. A fun fact most people don’t know? He played baseball for Team USA in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona—an achievement he’s both humble and proud of. That same competitive spirit and dedication carries through in everything he does.

When he’s not working or volunteering, Rick enjoys traveling with his wife and family, spending time with his four children, and relaxing with his two beloved Labrador retrievers, Sugar and Spice. Whether it's on a family vacation or a local adventure, he values making memories and staying grounded in what matters most.

Final Reflections: A Call to Serve

Rick offers thoughtful advice to anyone considering getting involved with the Chamber:

“Be intentional. Be present. Be heard. It’s a great way to be seen and involved. So many people say they want to help but never do. This is the way to help.”

As someone who lives by principle, Rick is inspired by two of his favorite quotes that continue to guide him both personally and professionally:

“Learn as if you'll live forever and live as though you'll die tomorrow.” – Mahatma Gandhi
“Comfort is the enemy of progress.” – P.T. Barnum

Rick Greene is a shining example of what it means to serve—through leadership, action, and a heart committed to lifting others up. We appreciate his impact and lending his talents to the Chamber!
