La. Delta announces new partnership to support manufacturing
Louisiana Delta Community College Strengthens Capabilities to support Manufacturing
Louisiana Delta Community College will formally announce two new training partnerships at a press conference to be held Friday, October 7, 2016 at 8 a.m. on the Monroe Campus of Louisiana Delta Community College, located 7500 Millhaven Road.
These partnerships are directly targeted at providing additional training support to area manufacturing operations and to positioning the region to attract additional employers. These efforts are being undertaken by LDCC in support of strategic goals established by regional economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, and cities, parishes, and state organizations.
The strategic partnerships to be announced are with Reliability Solutions and with Training Logic, Inc., two firms with substantive expertise in working with manufacturing companies to train workers for modern automated manufacturing operations.
Reliability Solutions is an established global leader in manufacturing technologies training for machine operators, field service technicians, and industrial maintenance technicians. Their training services feature technical specialists with unique specialties to develop knowledge, skill, and abilities with even the most sophisticated of manufacturing technologies. Along with classroom instruction, hands-on training is provided to ensure that program participants have mastered learning objectives and are able to take their enhanced skills directly into the manufacturing environment. Specialties of the firm include preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reducing failure rates of machinery through observation and maintenance of precision machinery that operates within close tolerances.
The second announcement features an expanded alliance with Training Logic, Inc., a firm that has designed and delivered multi-level soft-skills training programs and leadership succession development programming across the nation. Companies increasingly find that not only do they need to develop technical talent within their workforce, but also need to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills as well.
“The industry leading technical training capabilities developer through Reliability Solutions, coupled with the leadership and soft skills capabilities afforded through Training Logic will enhance LDCC’s existing capabilities to prepare and develop a world class workforce, a goal that we are highly committed to achieving,” says Dennis Epps, Acting Chancellor at Louisiana Delta Community College. “This is an incredible opportunity for Northeast Louisiana.”
Terry Southall, Business Development Manager with Reliability Solutions notes, “The main reason for developing this partnership is the fact that 77% of the skilled trades are retiring in the next 5 years and we need to build a healthy “bench strength” of tradesmen. The second reason is the tremendous demand within Louisiana and the surrounding states to have better training for their most critical assets, their working force. Ian McKinnon of Reliability Solutions always states in his “Introduction to Reliable Manufacturing Overview” that 97% of Company Executives agree that training needs to be hands-on and show qualifications, but only 3% of them are doing something about it. So how do we make such a cultural change? We do it from the ground up with partnerships like Training Logic, Reliability Solutions, and Louisiana Delta Community College.”
