Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to manage and oversee the daily activities of the mortgage department.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Responsible for the origination of real estate loans. Conducts initial pre-qualification interviews and prepares
complete loan application packages and necessary documentation. Conveys policies for extension of credit in
accordance with Credit Union guidelines. Meets Mortgage Loan scheduling and documentation requirements,
and production expectations. Serves members, prospective members, builders, developers, and realtors
promptly and professionally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of assigned loan origination functions.
• Interviews members referred by branch personnel to accept mortgage applications and collect preliminary documentation on loan requests.
• Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from members.
• Qualifies the member based on mortgage lending guidelines and forwards the file to main office for processing.
• Advises members of loan approval or denial and explains loan denials precisely and clearly to members.
• Monitors rate locks with members and investors.
• Meets with members to close home equity and home improvement loans as required.
• Completes lending operations in accordance with established Credit Union policies and legal requirements.
• Complies with all applicable federal guidelines, including but not limited to The Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures within area of responsibility.
• Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members, realtors and building professionals.
• Informs members of Credit Union loan policies and services.
• Markets to realtors and other outside sources to generate additional applications and potential new members for the credit union.
• Represents Credit Union in Chamber of Commerce, Realtor events, and other community involvement activities.
• Professionally cross-sells Credit Union services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree a plus. However, equivalent work experience of at least 3 years is required.
• Understanding of the foundation of determining credit worthiness.
• Knowledge of Credit Union loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines.
• Familiarity with the reports, insurance, and appraisals.
