Welcome To West Monroe

West Monroe, Louisiana is my home. My children and grandchildren reside here. These two factors have directed my decisions, ideas and plans for our community. As Mayor, I want to insure that West Monroe becomes the very best it can be, for the future of my family and yours.

Our resources are abundant. We are home to quality healthcare. Glenwood Regional Medical Center possesses a staff of the finest physicians, nurses, technicians and medical assistants in the area. The hospital employs over 900 people and serves a large region of Louisiana and Arkansas. Graphic Packaging, one of the largest paper mills in the state, is an operation which contributes greatly to the local economy and operates in an international market. Louisiana Plastics, Voith-Sulzer and Bancroft Bag continue to expand their customer base and employees. Our business community is vibrant and growing. Small businesses abound and many more have plans to establish themselves in our city.

Our school system boasts the highest test scores in the region. Several of our parish teachers have been named Louisiana Teacher of the Year. Our schools are innovative, technologically advanced and provide quality education for all students. And we’re home to the Class 5-A Louisiana State High School Football Championship team—the West Monroe Rebels! Our high school students have the option of attending three outstanding universities located within 30 miles of West Monroe; the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana Tech and Grambling. For our students desiring technical training, Louisiana Technical College is a mere 5 miles away. And Delta Community College offers a wide array of certifications and programs.

Our community offers a variety of activities. The Ike Hamilton Expo Center is host to the finest livestock events in the region. This state of the art facility is booked nearly every weekend of the year. International events find their way to our community as well as local high school rodeos. Sports enthusiasts enjoy our many lakes and streams. Golfers will find a course of choice in our community and may travel a short distance to conquer Squire Creek Country Club- a Tom Fazio design. The Ouachita River is the place to water and jet ski as well as dock a house boat. Restoration Park provides hiking paths, Kiroli Park nature strolls and picnic areas. If shopping is your forte, antiques and specialty shops number many. Quality restaurants and hotels will make an overnight stay comfortable and convenient.

This community, of which many of us are so proud, is one of strength, integrity, unity and hospitality. We have combined efforts to provide quality growth and opportunities for all. Our Police, the first accredited department in Louisiana, Fire and Sheriff’s departments provide protection and assistance. They enable us to feel safe as we continue to expand and develop this great place we call home. Please visit our great community and stay awhile.
